CAPPELLA DEGLI SCROVEGNI.
is this not the most beautiful little chapel you've ever seen?! breathtaking art covering every square inch of wall space as well as the ceiling. if you are visiting venice, i would highly suggest taking a short train ride to padova to visit this chapel. padova also has so many amazing places to eat + shop!

chris had a day off from work today and the kids were in school, so we decided we would go on a little day date in padova and see this chapel with lunch at ma ramen afterwards! it's amazing how lovely it feels to be able to just focus on the two of us. we happily pretended we were newlyweds on our honeymoon! not too hard to do in italy!
we booked our cappella degli scrovegni chapel tickets (€ 13.00 per adult) online the night before and picked them up an hour before our scheduled time slot. note that your visit will be limited to 15 or 20 minutes depending on the month. and they also limit each time slot to 25 people max. we also made a lunch reservation which really wasn't necessary, but if you are aiming for dinner (especially on weekends) we would highly suggest!
the interior of the ramen restaurant was absolutely breathtaking as well! when i first walked in, my eyes were immediately drawn to that amazing pink floral mosaic and then upwards to the bright green curved ceiling! i thought i was done being impressed for the day with the visit to the chapel and this was such a lovely unexpected treat!
A DEFINITE REPEAT PLACE.
chris ordered the shoyu ramen set and i had the shoyu ramen VEGAN set. they were both so flavorful and AUTHENTIC. we also had a side order of the vegetable gyoza which i completely gobbled up in less than a minute! SO GOOD. we can't wait to return and eat here again and try their other items on the menu!
GIOTTO FRESCOES.
the renaissance artwork within scrovegni chapel was decorated by giotto and completed in 1305. it is a masterpiece of storytelling focusing on the life of CHRIST, the story of salvation. designed to be read horizontally across the frames, the story starts with the archangel gabriel giving the blessed virgin mary the news that she would conceive and ends with CHRIST'S resurrection and the pentacost.
each of his frescoes are a wonder and when our 15 minutes were up i was so sad to part from them. the story, the way it was told, the COLORS - all were incredibly captivating. upon seeing these photos, jack and kate made us promise to take us to the chapel too! i am so excited that i'll get to see them again and to see the joy and wonder in their little faces as well!
chris looks SO relaxed and happy here! i think a day date does a body good for any parent!! we love eating out and sharing experiences with our kiddos, but it SURE FEELS GOOD to eat without sometimes! we are those parents that get mild anginas when we think one or both of our kids may have the case of hangry coming on (and potentially disturbing other diners near us), so it felt so freeing to not have to think about that! you know what i mean??!
