we love to hang out in milan – it’s not a very far drive from our apartment, so it makes for a perfect day trip. we also love to try a new place to eat every time we are there although temakinho located in the brera district – may just HAVE to be on repeat! their food was our favorite kind and dining in such a pretty atmosphere made for a FUN + FESTIVE dinner! just make sure to make online reservations in advance as they always seem to book up – especially for dinner!
i was absolutely in love (ecstatic really!) with every part of this restaurant’s decor. this gorgeous palm wall paper! these fantastic light fixtures! the tiles! and my favorite – that hand painted/distressed dresser! all so well put together. each of the temakinho locations (they have multiple!!) has its own individual style and we have made it a mission in life to try them all! we are currently eyeballing the one in rome!
we are big seafood lovers (well, we are big FOOD lovers in general!) especially sushi and probably every fish dish!! kate’s favorite is what she calls orange NEMO eggs! temakinho provides these cute wooden chopsticks that are easy to use even for a five year old! look how proudly she’s picking up her “nemo egg” sushi roll!

these tiles are so fun! i mean, it’s just genius paired with this dresser! our home is decorated with mostly neutral colors (well, except for jack + kate’s shared bedroom), so seeing colors come together like this make me so happy and bring out the inner wild child in me!! and can i just talk about my white slip on sneakers for a second?? it is just the COMFIEST and i feel like i’m walking on AIR. i also love that it goes with EVERYTHING: jeans, shorts, rompers, dresses, skirts, everything! perfect for traveling. links below if you are interested!
these bananas line the way up to the second floor! the space just BECKONED to have its photo taken! and the kids were pretty excited to sit on these colorful steps (kate insisted we sit on the yellow step!) and smile happily for mama! i usually tell them that i will photograph their goof look 😜 after their happy look 😀 and that usually guarantees a “good” mama loving photo. i just love how their eyes sparkle as they anticipate showing me their latest goof look!!
(edited to add: TEMAKINHO was SO sweet to share our photo of these two goofballs on their instagram page!)
their food is always freshly prepared and always disappear so very quickly into our bellies! so mouthwatering just staring at these right now as i type this!
i have to be quick about taking food photos! cause?: hungry little vultures breathing down my neck! i think i’ve mastered taking a decent food shot within a few clicks!! although i don’t think i was quick enough with this yummy salmon dish below! a few forks got into it while i was snapping that shrimp dish above! hahahha! the kids love scrolling through photos of what we ate, so they do try to hold off touching, but i guess this one was just too enticing!
in grocery stores here in italy, they frown upon touching the produce with bare hands. everyone wears these disposable plastic gloves to select them. which i so appreciate!! so, i am always having a pep/prep talk with the kiddos before we enter and make them repeat our little mantra: “look, but NO touch!” here, i asked kate to pretend to reach for these fruits and she muttered to herself, “look, no touch” – i had to laugh!! she’s my angel that never needs reminding to behave!
this coconut chocolate cake is hands down NOW my favorite dessert! it was not too sweet and was so refreshing on a hot summer day!! i am going back just to have this coconut slice of heaven!!! i think this actually tops my tried and true tiramisu! chris was so surprised how fast it disappeared from this pretty plate. he blinked and it was GONE.
oh, this dresser again! so SO perfect.
and here’s our sweet goofball, hamming it up for the camera. we were very grateful no one had yet arrived for dinner!
thank you temakinho for a LOVELY dinner! and also thank you for being so wonderful and allowing us to take these photos! we will see you soon again, ciao!
WEARING: my white vince warren slip ons here and here (i typically wear size 6 sneakers and these are true to size; and please don’t mind my lack of no-show socks – i couldn’t find a clean pair so i just put on jack’s regular ankle socks! hilarious how he and i can wear the same size socks now) and my favorite pair of madewell jeans.
kate’s zara jumpsuit sold out, but loving this mustard dress and this mustard culotte jeans, her rose gold vans (here too and we just got these gold silver ones for back to school), jack’s shirt & adidas.
thank you so MUCH for stopping by!

Right??! You will be SO close to Milan, you must swing by!! Are you heading there mid September? I think by then the FIRST Starbucks in Italy will be open! We love Italian coffee, but I sure miss my Starbucks and I am just over the moon right now that I may get to my beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte ☕🍂!
I have never seen a place so beautiful and catchy before to dine in. I can imagine that it must be even more amazing to see in person. That food looks incredible as well. I’ve got to add Milan, Italy to my bucket list.
Milan has quickly become one of my favorite cities in Italy! I think a large part of that is the amount of AMAZING dining choices available! After a fun outing there, we know we will sit down to a guaranteed amazing meal. Later this month, I want us to visit Cimitero Monumentale (an open air museum with sculptures and tombs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries) and catch some Vietnamese food in Chinatown. We’ve never been to either so we are super excited!!
This looks like such a beautiful place to visit, so much color and character. I hope to visit one day, thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Jessica!! Hope you get to visit Milan! It is such an amazing city. Chris wants to be there during fashion week – coming up very soon – I told him he was crazy and reminded him we have two young kids! 😂
What a wonderful post! Not only is this a restaurant with good looking food, its also a good looking place to eat. Everything looks stunning! Thanks for sharing
The food was so incredibly fresh! So far, every restaurant/eatery we tried in Milan has been so creative, fresh, and delicious. Very impressed with this city. Thanks for stopping by! ❤️
All of that food looked so good, my mouth is watering. I don’t know what looked better that sushi or that cake! I bet you loved it.
Ahhh, both SO good! Right now, I am craving that coconut chocolate cake!
Pictures are absolutely breathtaking. It is not often that you see a place so beautiful and even have the chance to dine in. It must be even more amazing to see in person.
Thanks, Nina! I love eating in a place that is so well decorated! So fun and exciting! Only bad part?? After my quick food shots, I have to FORCE myself to put my camera away! 😜
LOVEEEE THESE PICS! Seriously this whole site has the cutest aesthetic. Moving to Germany next year, so will have to visit here sometime!
Thanks, Valerie!!! Oh, I am so excited to visit Germany! You are going to have the BEST time living there! My husband goes there often for his work and every single time he comes home his phone is filled with photos (he normally is a take ONE photo per location kinda guy), suitcase packed with a cool German toy, and loads of stories!
Milan truly sounds dreamy. This restaurant is beautiful and has a homey vibe. I like such restaurants that give an aesthetic appeal. You get to enjoy your meal better. 😀
RIGHT??! Aesthetics totally enhance your meal!

Kids were so excited to eat! We’ve eaten at another Temakinho before, so they knew the food was going to be good! Haha!!
Oh, I love the flooring of this place! You nailed it so well from the top! And don’t forget to thank both of the little models in these pictures, they made the whole place look so pretty and fun to visit. The food look very delicous as sushi is one of my top favorite!

You have definitely mastered how to take great food shots with just a few clicks! I’d love to visit Milan.
