thanks to the snails (see yesterday’s journal entry!), the kids and i were up at the crack of dawn! we let daddy sleep in since he had an eight hour drive home ahead of him later on. but first, we had one more place to explore: the famous saint remy wednesday market day! we parked our car on the street (pay and display parking: buy your ticket from the dispenser machine and display
if you’d like to know why she looked so grumpy up there ^^ it’s because she was eagerly waiting to put sugar in my coffee. for some strange reason i don’t like sugar in my european coffee (starbucks is a different story!) and i only let her put some in after i was nearly done drinking! she was all smiles after that!! funny girl!

and OH what a market it was – the colors, the textures, the delicious smells, everything was laid out so artistically. beautiful fabrics, lovely french soaps, lavender oils, cheeses, sausages, french market baskets, rustic pottery, round wooden cutting boards (i have a slight obsession with wooden cutting boards), tangy olives, delicious french sauces (my taste buds were in heaven!), vibrant flowers, fresh fruits and vegetables, desserts of every sort, i could go on forever! delighted tourists mingled happily with friendly locals shopping for the week. if i had to name my favorite it would be the french GARLIC! so fresh and SUCH a pretty shade of lavender! as i write this, i am staring at my strand of garlic hanging in my kitchen and all kinds of happy, warm feelings come flooding back.
wearing my favorite pair of wedges here (these run true to size – i wear 5.5 in heels and 6 sneakers and wear these in 5.5)! they are so comfortable and i love that the neutral color pairs well with everything. although i do have a black and cognac pair on order now (for these ordered half size bigger than normal) that i know i can walk around in these for hours! and this is an old navy cotton dress – perfect for hot summer days!
here we are all set to start our eight hour drive home. we end our trip to provence with: starbucks americano and caramel frapp and mcdonald’s cheeseburgers and fries! haha!
au revoir, plantanes trees!
au revoir, 10,001 tunnels!
au revoir, AMAZING ocean views, pastel colored buildings, and charming fields set against equally charming hilltop backdrops!
dear provence,
i left my heart somewhere over there – quite possibly by the lavender fields. please keep it safe for me until my return very soon.
