we were driving along this road in vicenza (northern city in italy situated between venice and verona) when these glorious fields of YELLOW came upon us! i told chris we needed to STOP and take a photo! but he reminded me (while looking doubtful that i would only take one photo) that we were late meeting some friends (well, we weren’t late, but he considers it late if we are not ten minutes early), so we passed them by, my sad sad face plastered to the window as i vowed to them that i WILL return!
true to my word, i returned to villa rotonda with jack and kate and stroller in tow packed with water, snacks, some kinder eggs, and my camera bag. and HOW very graciously we were greeted by the fluttering yellow flowers! as we stared mesmerized, the kids looked up at me and told me how much they loved italy. i nodded in agreement and told them how grateful i was that we could call this place HOME.

sweet, sweet kit kat kate – she is always dancing, whether music is playing or not! these yellow hunter boots will always remind me of kate! she was such a sweet happy baby, always putting me in a sunny mood!!
one thing i ask them to do when i am photographing them is to whisper a funny story in each other’s ears. this usually results in a lot of giggling laughter! click! click! click!!
la rotonda would become an inspiration for some of the most famous homes in the world. including the white house!
oh, jack. this boy of mine is always ALWAYS bringing me flowers. he said he will continue to do this even when i’m “EVEN older.” because, apparently, i am already old. love you, jack jack!!
dearest villa rotonda, thank you for welcoming us! you are an architectural hilltop marvel and a most beautiful hostess. we hope you will invite us back again soon!
