I SPY WITH MY LITTLE EYE...

a cute and adorably pudgy little beaver!!
today, we went over to our favorite park by our house with cartons of painted eggs + moss baskets and did a sweet little egg hunt! mr. beaver must have heard all the commotion we were making and came out of his home to investigate!! oh my goodness - SOOOO cuddly cute!!

PETAL PAINTED EGGS.

these eggs were so much fun to paint! how pretty are these colors?!! my favorites were the ones with the metallic copper paint!
and the best part? painting them with my kids! we first painted the paper mâché eggs white and once dried, i penciled in petals. we then picked out which colors would go well together and filled in the petals with beautiful shades of moss, violet, chocolate, mustard...
and if we made a big enough mistake, no big deal! we just repainted the area white and tried again. i thought they came out very lovely!

LET THE HUNT BEGIN!

jack couldn't WAIT to start looking for the eggs! he was hopping around madly like a cute little bunny so excited to get started! 
we had painted two of the eggs a shiny GOLD and they knew they each had to find their golden egg. before we could say "go" they were OFF  running! well, jack was OFF running like a ping pong ball, while kate scampered to keep up with her big brother!
and somehow, jack found his golden egg right away! too funny how he proudly held it up and waved it around like it was the final golden ticket to willie wonka's chocolate factory!

here, jack is happily collecting every single egg he can get his hands on and poor kate can't seem to find even one. she kept trudging after jack looking and looking and getting so confused as to why she wasn't finding any eggs. seriously the cutest thing!

BIG BROTHER, HER HERO!

jack finally realized that kate was sad because she wasn't finding any eggs. he started pointing them out to her and she looked at him like he was her knight in shining armor! actually, she follows her brother any where and everywhere and thinks the WORLD of him already. so adorable!
here's their conversation we heard!:
photo 1. jack: here kate! i found an egg for you! (kate hurriedly leaps over a RIVER to get to her first egg)
photo 2. kate: really, jack? yay!
photo 3. kate: i'm so happy, jack! you are my hero!
photo 4. jack: i'm going to find MORE for you! (puffing his little chest out proudly)

A HAPPY, HAPPY DAY!

after a fun afternoon of egg hunting, jack and kate ran up and down this hill a gazillion times. and every time jack would get ahead of her, kate would call for him to wait up and he would run back to her and then run the rest of the way down together, sometimes holding her hand.
i'm so grateful that these two monkeys are best friends! sure, they have their world war iii moments, but at the end of the day, i hear them say, "i love you, jack + i love you, kate" and my heart, my HEART just BURSTS!!! hope everyone had a beautiful EASTER.
