ROLLING HILLS.

ahhhh, kentucky! you are just beyond gorgeous with your LUSH green rolling hills! after hills after hills...

the drive from our home to this perfect little red barn farm was probably the most relaxing ride of my life. there were so many timeless picturesque scenes, i felt like we had stepped back in time - to the 1800s!

i REALLY wanted us to pull over (no less than 17 times!) on the way there, but i held myself back. we had some strawberry picking to do after all!! and on the way back, we were just too hungry to stop. harvesting crop makes you hungry apparently!! 

SEARCHING.

for the perfectly ripe strawberry. that was jack's happy new mission of the day! and kate's, too - sort of... jack's goal was to fill up his little red basket to the brim. and kate's goal - was to make sure to have a LOVELY time. and if that meant her basket was barely full, that was juuuuuust fine with her!

how cute are these little red baskets by the way? they were actually metal colored with brown wooden handles. i wanted red baskets for easter (we did a crimson red theme) so i took a can of red spray paint and gave them a quick blitz! i love how my red striped kitchen towels complete the look! link below if you are interested!

CONVERSATIONS. FUNNY LITTLE ONES.

you know what i just LOVE about these two?? their funny little conversations they have with one another! sometimes they sound like an elderly couple married for eight long decades!

here are some i overheard throughout the afternoon! chris and i couldn't stop laughing!

jack: hey kate? can you stop fooling around and help me find some ripe strawberries?
kate: (hop, skip, jump, swish, and TWIRL around!)

jack was just determined to find every single ripe berry 🍓 in the farm and couldn't understand why kate wasn't focusing on this very important job! it was pretty hilarious to see his sour expression next to kate's oblivious one as she hopped + fleeted around like a butterfly and buzzed like a bee! and ladies and gentlemen, this is WHY we put on shorts/shorties when she wears dresses!

this one also had me snorting away!!!:
kate: wait for me, jack!
jack: you have to catch up, kate. i'm very busy. 

a very busy five year old!! 😂 i always say that jack reminds me of ralphie from A CHRISTMAS STORY! which i just MUST go visit before i leave this earth.

BEST FRIENDS.

and in the end, even though their work ethics may differ slightly, they are a team and help each other out. jack teaches her that a little patience and perseverance reaps great rewards (a perfectly ripe strawberry in this case); kate teaches him to balance work with a little play and to not take life so seriously all the time. they are best friends. and i dearly hope so for their whole life.
