when the girl arrives, she notices that her grandmother looks very strange.
"what a big mouth you have!"
"the better to EAT you with!", responds the wolf. at which point the wolf jumps out of bed and eats her, too. then he falls asleep.
i find this charming tale hilarious and love how it teaches some valuable life lessons:
listen to your momma.
don't talk to strangers.
don't stray off the path.
saunders springs nature preserve in radcliff, kentucky is practically in our back yard and our absolute favorite place to hang out! we love taking walks here and checking out how the sweet little beaver family is doing! watching the cute turtles sunbathe on fallen tree trunks in the middle of the pond is also always such a treat! and when it rains hard, there is this amazingly serene waterfall (which you can also view from the bridge above it) that cascades down into a pool before streaming gently down the hill. absolutely peaceful and the perfect place to spend a crisp autumn afternoon!
i hope they never lose this innocent childhood curiosity. i hope they always look at life as if it was a present wrapped in a pretty bow waiting to be opened!
sometimes. sometimes, when i see a moment like this, i feel like i am dreaming. i'm reminded just how very blessed i am to have these two munchkins in my life. to be their mama. they are truly all of my dreams come true...
