you know what the secret to this mouth watering taste is?? SOUR CREAM. it adds a pillowy soft heavenly goodness to every bite and i had a hard time stopping myself from devouring the entire tray! recipe below!

kate was so excited to help me make these! just be sure to chill the dough  well before rolling it out. it will ensure a nice clean shape when cutting the dough and crisp well formed letters in the hearts!

THE RECIPE!

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups + 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
2 eggs
8 ounces sour cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 1/2 cups flour
gel food coloring*

1. cream butter + sugar.
2. add eggs + sour cream + vanilla.
3. in a separate bowl, combine salt + baking soda + baking powder.
4. mix into wet ingredients.
5. add flour slowly.
6. divide dough into equal parts and work in food coloring.
7. wrap in plastic wrap and let dough chill in fridge for several hours.
8. preheat oven to 350 degrees.
9. roll the dough out 1/4 inch thick onto well floured surface.
10. bake 8-10 minutes.
