OUR DRIVE THERE.

our drive to provence was full of gorgeous scenery along the southern coast of france, but after eight hours we were all very grateful to arrive at our sous les plantanes b&b. caroline (owner of this charming place) warmly welcomed us as we stepped out of our car. she helped us carry our bags to our rooms and showed us around her lovely home and grounds.

and oh how LOVELY it was!! it truly felt like we had stepped into the world of narnia - so peaceful and relaxing with everything inside and out exquisitely decorated. the kids especially loved the tranquil little pool with its gurgling sing songs - we felt like we were at a spa!

the photo below where i am looking at the camera was taken by jack! i just love the look i am giving my sweet handsome baby boy. he was holding my large dslr up to his small face and concentrating so very hard on the one instruction i gave him which was to put the focal point on my eyes!
and i am absolutely in love with my new foundation! i've always avoided liquid foundations as i tend to break out, but this feels so light and breathable on my face - i can no longer go back to mineral based powder foundation!! i also love the estee lauder double wear in 3w1 tawny, but to me they are both essentially the same.
i would say the coverage is medium, it gives my skin an even, slightly dewy, natural look which i love. i get it in the tan shade. my favorite part though is how long it really lasts. when we are traveling, i don't have time to touch up during the day, and my skin looks great all day long - WELL INTO EVENING.
it goes on  smoothly and quickly with this makeup blender sponge. get this blender - it is MAGIC AND SUCH A TIME SAVER!

how scrumptious do all these look?!! caroline’s homemade jams and yogurts were so delicious! chris and the kids devoured the cheeses and meats. everything was so fresh and tasty – you could tell a lot of love goes into her preparation and presentation.

look at this amazing headboard in our room – as well as that ceiling light fixture made of natural wood!! – looks like something out of an anthropologie display! caroline told us that her husband and her father (or father in law) made them! … what?! what a talented family!

OUR ROOMS!

the rooms were clean, comfortable, cool (very important in the summer for us americans, right??!), and the rain shower head had nice strong water pressure with plenty of hot water! everything was so perfect, we didn’t want to leave the property!

after settling in and unpacking, we drove over to a nearby restaurant for dinner. everyone there was so friendly! from the host to the waiters to all the folks (many who seemed local) dining there. the family sitting next to our table was so nice!!! they came over and INSISTED on taking a family photo for us! we were happy to return the favor!

our dinner was very yummy and we leisurely enjoyed each course. there was a warm gentle breeze in the air (and strangely, not a single mosquito!) and one by one twinkle lights came on in shops, windows above those shops, and street lamps.

it felt magical hearing the soothing rustling of the nearby platane trees and watching the turquoise sky slowly fade into cerulean blue and then finally into a deep inky violet.
