over the memorial day weekend we visited lake como, italy! seriously, one of the most relaxing trips we’ve had to date! we spent the days eating really good italian food, shopping (mostly window shopping), leisurely strolling around gorgeous streets, and taking boat rides that lowered my blood pressure!!
stroller tip: you can bring it as there are plenty of flat areas around the perimeter of bellagio. but maybe leave it at your hotel and use a baby carrier or wrap when shopping and dining in the center as you will encounter many of these charming shallow steps that go all the way up and down.

how beautiful are these hand painted wooden trays? can i have one of each please??
this is where we had our yummy italian dinner – we felt like we were having a delicious home cooked meal here! san giacomo does not take reservations, but it’s no big deal to wait. you can sit on one of these colorful seat cushions on the steps with a glass of refreshing prosecco and just take in the view while you wait for your table!
the colored trays were gorgeous, but if i really had to choose, i would take these cream colored beauties home with me!
the interior of the restaurant was seriously full of charm!! a lovely shade of peppa pig pink paired with warm copper! so pretty!
the kids may love their italian gelatos, but i can’t end dinner without their amazingly fresh tiramisus!!! each bite is pure heaven!
in between courses (italians like to serve their dinner in courses with leisurely wait times in between), i ran out to capture some more shots of this view. i pretended to be monet painting the same subject in different shades of light – haha!! of course i have it much easier just pressing the shutter button! as it got darker and the street lamps twinkled on, the view took on an enchanting feel and i felt like it was in this very moment i fell in LOVE with bellagio.
i felt like a peeping tom staring into the second floor window of this building (below, left). you can hear the clanking of pots and pans and chopping of food in the kitchen and dinner orders for the restaurant being yelled at into the room! and the delicious smell wafting through the air made me hungry again (even though we had just had our dinner!).
this is the courtyard of the lovely hotel we stayed at – i’ll include more photos and information about it in another post! a lake como series of posts is in the works so stay tuned for lots more! follow along on instagram STORY for updates! see you on our next post: we will be visiting villa del balbianello – location shooting for some of the scenes from star wars: episode II attack of the clones!
WEARING: kate’s dress & rose gold vans (we just got these gold silver ones for back to school).
