happy fourth of july, everyone!! today was a dream come true – a dream i’ve had since i was a young girl. we celebrated one of my favorite holidays (any excuse to light up sparklers!!) at the lavender fields! in provence! in france!! please don’t pinch me awake as i want this dream to last…

our drive to provence was full of gorgeous scenery along the southern coast of france, but after eight hours we were all very grateful to arrive at our sous les plantanes b&b. caroline (owner of this charming place) warmly welcomed us as we stepped out of our car. she helped us carry our bags to our rooms and showed us around her lovely home and grounds.
we were driving along this road in vicenza (northern city in italy situated between venice and verona) when these glorious fields of YELLOW came upon us! i told chris we needed to STOP and take a photo! but he reminded me (while looking doubtful that i would only take one photo) that we were late…
while planning for our grand first ever visit to ROME, i googled hadrian’s villa (villa adriana) and i saw a photo of THIS: and my jaw dropped. to the ground. right then and there, it became my main REASON for going to rome – to see this magnificently romantic pool with my very own eyes….

Thank you, Jamesp! We used three Nikon lenses: 14-24mm f/2.8G, 35mm f/1.4G, 85mm f/1.4G. Those are usually the go to lenses for family vacations!
